Hi friend. I'm a Detroit-based story maker. I created and host The Best Advice Show and co-host Slate’s parenting show, Mom and Dad are Fighting. I also produce and edit How to Survive the End of the World (named one of “The Best Podcasts of the Year So Far” by the AV Club) and Freedom Dreams.

Back in 2016, My wife and I created and hosted, Pregnant Pause with Zak and Shira, which chronicles our decision to bring a child into this strange world of ours. (The Bello Collective named it among its “100 Outstanding Audio Pieces of 2017”).

My radio features and documentaries have been heard on NPR, CBC, BBC, PRI, APM, Deutsche Welle and Radio Helsinki. I was a staff producer on NPR/PRX's State of the Re:Union and prior to that, I began my career as a co-founding producer of WDET's Detroit Today.

I facilitate workshops and consult with museums, high schools, universities, and community organizations on various story-based projects. I’m also a counselor at Radio Campfire and a coach at the Detroit Writing Room. I'd love to work with you. If you've got something in mind, lemme know

As a younger man, I worked as a paleontologist.
